FREE GP CARE SERVICE FOR THOSE OVER 70 YEARS STARTS TODAY

first_imgMinister Joe McHugh has welcomed the free GP Care service for people aged 70 and over which starts today.Minister of State, Joe McHughThe Minister of State said, “I welcome confirmation from Ministers Leo Varadkar and Kathleen Lynch in the Department of Health that registration for the Free GP Care service for people aged 70 and over begins today, Wednesday August 5th.”This second phase of universal GP care extends a GP service without charges to everyone aged 70 years and older. This new measure applies to those aged 70 and over who do not currently hold a medical or GP visit card, with persons over 70 already holding a medical or GP visit card not needing to register.Minister McHugh added “From today, over 400,000 people aged 70 and over will be able to see their GP without paying fees.
