Teddy Long announced for Class of 2017 WWE Hall of Fame

first_img He was the longest-serving SmackDown GM (maybe even the longest-serving GM ever on either brand) compared to the musical chairs carousel of GMs they’ve had on Raw. That speaks to the kind of staying power he had. He was a fairly decent manager too to a more impressive list of wrestlers than they have here so he’s also another good addition to the HOF’s manager wing. Either Ron Simmons or Butch Reed should induct him. I’d also be okay with Mark Henry or Jazz doing the honors. He should come back and make a Tag Team Match on Smackdown. February 13, 2017 at 4:14 pm Now Playing Up Next Honestly this is a case of a guy not really being Hall of Fame worthy getting in because WWE just puts anyone. From the matches I have seen he wasn’t that good a ref. He was never a great manager or promo man. You are correct. Outside of Jack Tunney, who served as “WWE President” from 1984-1995 respectively, Teddy Long is the longest serving on air authority figure in WWE history. That obvious excludes Mr. McMahon.
